Meghana Tembe

Psychological
Services

Dr. Meghana Tembe is originally from India. She received her MA in Clinical Psychology from University of Pune in 1999. She worked as an instructor in Psychology at an undergraduate institution in India before coming to the United States to pursue training in Counseling and Psychotherapy. Dr. Tembe received a PsyD degree from George Washington University in 2005. She is a Virginia licensed Clinical Psychologist.

Dr. Tembe’s counseling approach focuses on helping the client attain intellectual and experiential insight within a powerfully experienced therapeutic relationship. She works towards understanding the dynamic underlying “meaning” of the clients concerns, and the underlying beliefs/assumptions that often prevent an individual from achieving their potential for satisfaction in relationships, work and life. Appreciating the client's significant past experiences, the manner in which they affect the therapeutic relationship, and providing an "emotionally corrective experience" is also an intricately related part of her approach. She finds the liberating transformations effected in counseling profoundly meaningful; both personally as well as professionally.

Dr. Tembe’s areas of clinical interest include issues related to cultural and ethnic diversity, relationship and family concerns, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and separation-individuation concerns. She actively seeks out clinical and outreach opportunities of multicultural appreciation and empowerment.
