Services

Elaine Viccora settled in Northern Virginia after earning a bachelor of science in business from Georgetown University (1985) and a master of social work from Catholic University (1990). She is a licensed clinical social worker who has served as a counselor, advocate and case manager for people with mental and physical disabilities. She also has worked with university students as an adjunct instructor for Mason’s social work department and on the residence life staff at Georgetown University and Catholic University.

As the CAPS case manager, Elaine meets with students to determine what kind of services are needed and the easiest ways to access those resources in the community. Working in partnership with students, she provides referrals to therapists, psychiatrists and treatment programs; helps students understand their insurance coverage; steers people with no insurance toward low-cost resources; and identifies other social service supports (e.g., legal, financial, housing) needed by CAPS clients. Her goal is to give students the information and support they need to get the best care possible and achieve academic success at Mason.
